Impact Report 2013-2018

December 4, 2018

Share:

We recently released our report from 2013-2018, highlighting steady growth in our financial portfolio, stories from clients and communities, and how MACED and the region have shifted with the recent collapse of the coal industry.

The report highlights MACED’s efforts to support a new economy from 2013-2018 by:

  • Reengineering its enterprise development program to focus on making capital work for people and communities through robust lending and technical assistance services. More than 2,000 entrepreneurs have been supported and 560 jobs created or retained through these efforts.
  • Introducing strategic, community-focused initiatives like How to Airbnb trainings and What’s Next EKY?!, which foster thriving rural communities through mutual learning and collaboration.
  • Embracing exciting growth in the energy efficiency and solar energy markets to bring significant cost savings to clients and communities — which totaled more than $40,000 for one Kentucky business.

Peter Hille, MACED’s president, said, “Today, we describe our work as helping to foster a just transition to a new economy in post-coal Appalac hia — one that is more diverse, sustainable, equitable and resilient. We recognize that the new economy must be locally based, community driven and built upon regional talent, traditions and assets.”

The complete report can be found here: www.mtassociation.org/resources
