As President Obama said in a speech at Carnegie Mellon University in June, “the next generation will not be held hostage to the energy sources of the last. We are not going to move backwards.
We are going to move forward.” Taking our charge from the President, in the past two years, this Administration has taken unprecedented action to build a clean energy economy, invest in advanced transportation systems, emissions monitoring and reductions, and land and water conservation. Student and youth leaders, like yourself, have similarly taken the initiative to green your college campuses and communities and create lasting change. We believe that together we can chart the course to create a clean energy economy, protect our environment, and combat global climate change.
We would like to invite you to join a conference call Monday, October 4th at 1:15 PM ET with other student and youth environmental leaders to talk about our shared goals and how we can accomplish them. Speaking on the call will be Lisa Jackson, the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, and Jon Carson, the Chief of Staff at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, who will discuss the Administration’s work to support a clean energy economy, protect the environment, and combat global warming. We would like to take your questions and hear your ideas and stories.
