ATA Fly Fishing Teen Adventure

ATA CampsiteFly fishing is a great outdoor activity and fantastic way to expose someone to an outdoor adventure.  Clear streams, beautiful scenery and quality instructors create a lasting experience.  North Carolina has some of the best trout fishing waters anywhere and ATA instructors are experienced at developing the skills of teens and leading.

Activities

On the ATA Fly Fishing Adventure, you will have fun learning what it takes to catch trout using a fly rod.  In addition, you will spend time around a campfire, exploring the woods and rivers, tying flies, and fishing.  Each day will begin with a fishing trip along a river or stream.  After the morning outing we will spend time back at camp learning the craft.  Each day you will spend some time learning fly tying, casting, reading the water or the time honored bug collecting.  Catching trout is as much about casting as it is learning about trout and what they eat.  In the afternoon we will head back out on another evening fishing adventure.  In the evening you will spend time cooking dinner and swapping stories around the campfire.

The adventure begins with a couple of days of camping in the front country, learning the craft of fly fishing, camp set up and stream ecology.  Once we have caught a few trout in the front country, we will set out for a back country fly fishing trip in the wilderness in search of the native brook trout.  The group will spend 2 nights in wilderness camping, fishing and having fun.  When we get out of the woods, we will head for the Tuckaseegee River for an afternoon of rafting, swimming and fun.
