Running around back on the east coast
Okay so I’ve been back for close to a month and I have been running around playing like crazy.
My friend Loren and I finally climbed “Straight and Narrow” as well as “Built to Tilt” out at Shortoff. We spied a great looking line on the arete just left of “Big Corner” but after some research it seems that the prolific Nathan Brown has already ticked it off. That being said I’m off to climb that line and the beautiful crack to the right on an upcoming trip.
The best thing about being back from a month climbing in Canada: climbing with my girlfriend in the Southeast! Lee has been climbing for less than a year and her first outdoor roped experience was only this past May, however she is already working out 5.10 steeps at the Obed in Tennessee and has climbed some classic routes in Linville and at Looking Glass. I never get tired of hearing her say “Can we please go climbing this weekend?” Did I mention she is an outrageous cook? Hands off….
So what is on the agenda for this weekend? I am headed up to the New River Gorge for a weekend of clippin’ bolts and jammin’ whatever is on. My buddy Chris Dorrity and I are driving up on Friday morning and cranking out until Monday. If all goes according to plan I’ll be able to onsight Turkey Beard next weekend, or at least have a good go at Safari Jive.
I swear I’ll post some photos when I can figure it out.
