Top rope rock climbing is a term used to describe a style of climbing where the anchor is above the climber and is close enough to the ground to allow the rope to reach the climber. This allows for safe, fun way to experience climbing. It is also the perfect situation for AMI’s climbing guides to provide you with climbing instruction, challenge or a tailored experience to fit your outdoor adventure.
Who
Top roping is for everyone; first time climbers and experts alike enjoy top rope climbing. AMI can tailor an experience for all levels. The climbing guides at AMI are happy to work with individuals, friends or families wanting to experience a fun outdoor climbing adventure. First time climbers will enjoy top rope climbing in NC at Looking Glass rock, Linville gorge, and many other locations through North Carolina. Guide rock climbing is a great family vacation opportunity. Climbing is team activity and requires individuals to work together and AMI can teach how to work safely together. Also, many individuals use top roping rock climbing as a way to work on skills, such as climbing movement, develop trust, or any of the technical skills.

At AMI, our climbing guides are trained professional climbing guides who are certified by the American Mountain Guides Association. Not only will you get to experience the thrill and fun of rock climbing, but with AMI your outdoor adventure will include quality climbing instruction, and a personalized experience tailored to fit your needs, from beginners to those who want to focus on specific skills. AMI will provide you with all the necessary climbing gear, quality instructors, and a fun outdoor adventure. All you need is the mountain spirit and a willing soul.

Cost and logistic
Full day (8am to 5pm)
- $190.00 1 person
- $50 for each additional person
- maximum of 5 people; for groups of more than 5 see Group Adventures
Beginning Rock Intro Half Days (6 hours)
- Minimum 2 people
- $180.00 for two people, all climbing gear and instruction included
- $35.00 for each additional person max of five.
