AMI Climbing Anchor Clinic
This course is for climbers who want to develop the ability to place protection for leading, setting up anchors and rigging top rope anchors.  This intensive clinic will focus on placing various types’ protection devices and rigging for traditional leading anchors.  This is the ideal instruction for climbers who want to be able to learn to place protection or who are ready to start leading traditional climbs.

This 1 day course focuses on placing protection and constructing anchors for  single pitch climbing or multipitch. First, you will learn how protection works, which type of protection to select, how to various rigging options and why. Next, you will learn how to select the proper type and size of artificial gear given the rock.  This progresses to tricks for placing protection and evaluating your placements.  The second part of the AMI Anchor Clinic  will teach you how to create a variety of anchor matrix’s using slings, cordelettes, and rope.  More than just rigging an anchor, you will develop the skills for determining the best anchor rigging and load distribution.

Testimonials about the Anchors Course

I would highly recommend Patrick as an instructor, and the Anchor Clinic to anyone (of any level) who wishes to learn more about safety and the reasoning behind why gear works the way it does.

Kat Richards

In addition to being an expert in Rock Climbing, Patrick’s background as an educator is obvious. He has the ability to communicate Rock Climbing principals in way that is both easy to understand and remember. I would recommend his clinics to anyone.
